Gold Medal winner - Sonoma County Harvest Fair

2007 Estate Pinot Noir
This dark-ruby red estate-bottled Russian River Pinot Noir is vibrant and complex on the nose and shows bright cherry and raspberry aromas with wonderful spicy undertones of cedar and cardamom. In the mouth, the cherry fruit overlays silky tannins that leave a lingering feeling of spice-infused chocolate.
This exceptional wine is incredibly balanced and complex and will pair well with rack or leg of lamb, braised pork or barbequed salmon.
Harvest Dates: September 6 through October 4, 2007
Brix at Harvest: 24.6 to 26.8
Clones: This Pinot was created from 11 different clones of Pinot noir. Each clone was fermented in 6-ton open-top tanks, pressed and barreled down into 14 to 16 barrels per lot which were kept separately until blended together in April 2008. The clones included: Swan, 667, 777, 113, 9, 32, 15, 37 and 23 and each clone contributed slightly different characteristics to the final blend.
Vineyard: The grapes for this vintage came from our main vineyard on Occidental Road in Santa Rosa and our Burnside Vineyards west of Sebastopol.
Soil: We have three different soil types on which our Occidential grapes are grown. They are Wright Loam Shallow, Clear Lake Clay and Blucher Fine Sandy Loam. The soils at our Burnside Vineyard are predominately Goldridge soil.
Other Information: This wine was barrel aged for 10 months in French oak, 30% of which was new.
